From Homelessness to Entrepreneur

My Journey of Overcoming Adversity and Finding Success

Hello everyone and welcome to my story

In this story, I want to share with you my journey of overcoming adversity and how I turned my life around.

From being homeless to becoming an entrepreneur, it’s been a long and difficult road, but it’s also been a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

And along the way, I’ve learned that laughter is the best medicine.

So, I hope that by sharing my story, I can not only inspire you but also make you laugh.

And most importantly, remind you that if I can do it, so can you.

Childhood and Early Adversity:

I was born and raised in the UK and from a young age, I had a love for sports, particularly ice hockey.

I was a talented player and had aspirations of becoming a professional athlete.

However, at the age of 13, my life took a dramatic turn for the worse when I was kicked out of my home and had to fend for myself.

It was a difficult and traumatic experience, but it also taught me the importance of having a good sense of humour.

Because, let’s be real, when life gives you lemons, you gotta make lemonade and add a little vodka to it.

I had to learn how to survive on my own and it was hard, but it also made me more resilient and taught me to never give up.

It was during this time, that I realized that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.

And I decided to react with a smile and a sense of humour.

Joining the Army:

At the age of 16, I decided to join the army in the UK as a way to gain discipline and structure in my life.

I served in Bosnia in 1996 and it was a challenging but also proud time of my life.

The army taught me the importance of teamwork, camaraderie and how to face difficult situations head-on.

However, after returning home, I struggled to adjust to civilian life and was diagnosed with PTSD.

But, the army taught me one thing, when in doubt, just yell “HOOAH!” and keep moving forward.

I found that the skills and discipline I learned in the army helped me a lot in the future, not just in my personal life but also in my professional life.

Homelessness and Depression:

The PTSD led me to become homeless for several years and I hit rock bottom.

I was depressed and felt like I had no purpose or direction in life.

It was a dark and difficult time, but I never gave up hope that things would get better.

And I always reminded myself, that it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.

I was homeless and it was not a good feeling, but I learned that sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.

I knew that I had to keep breathing and keep fighting.

Seeking Help and Finding Therapy:

Finally, I decided to seek help and I was introduced to CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

It was a life-changing experience, as the therapy helped me to overcome my PTSD and depression.

I was able to gain clarity and perspective on my life and set new goals for myself.

And I learned that the best way to predict your future is to create it.

The therapy helped me to understand my thought patterns and how to change them for the better.

It was a long and difficult process but it was worth it.

Becoming an Entrepreneur and Overcoming Imposter Syndrome:

One of my new goals was to become an entrepreneur and make money online.

However, I struggled with imposter syndrome and didn’t believe that I was good enough or capable of achieving success.

But, I persevered and with the help of mentors and coaches, I was able to overcome my self-doubt and build a successful online business.

And I realized that success is not final, and failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that count.

I had to learn that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s a part of it.

And that the only real failure is the failure to try.

Throughout this process, I also learned that being an entrepreneur is not easy, and it’s not for everyone.

But if you’re willing to put in the work, the rewards can be great.

I had to learn how to market, how to sell, how to create content, how to manage finances, and so much more.

But, I enjoyed the process and the freedom I hope it will give me.

Conclusion:

Today, I am grateful for the journey that led me to where I am today.

I am passionate about helping others, particularly those who may be going through difficult times, to never give up on their dreams and to believe in themselves.

I love being an entrepreneur and making money online, but more than that, I love being able to give back and make a positive impact on the lives of others.

And most importantly, I want to remind you that if you want to fly, you gotta give up the things that weigh you down.

I hope that my story has inspired you in some way and that you’ll take action to pursue your own dreams, no matter how daunting they may seem.
